Suquamish Tribe, First Half 2010
To provide geographic information system technical expertise, datasets, spatial modeling capability, metadata, and cartographic products for environmental, historical, ethnographic, and archaeological datasets for Kitsap County, Washington.
A vector-based model was employed to take advantage of the very specific spatial locations of the most important input data. This kind of model is sometimes referred to as “integrated terrain unit mapping.” There were six major input layers including soils, ethnology, and archaeological sites. When all the layers were weighted and combined, the result layer contained almost 7,000 polygons, each of which had a final probability score as well as the underlying data so that it can easily be seen which factors contributed to the final score.
