Forest Harvest Database Creation

Objective:

Clearly delineate forest harvests that have occurred within the last ten years.

Result:

Developed a custom application to sort through the WA Department of Natural Resources forest permitting databases (1995 to 2006) to create spatially discrete polygons of potential forest harvest within four Washington counties. Conducted an error analysis using aerial photography to confirm forest harvest.

Provided client with static and animated maps showing year and cut type of harvest, maps of road construction, and a written project summary.
