Permitting Trends Analysis

Hood Canal Coordinating Council, 2006–2007

Objective:

Analyze commercial and residential building permit activity between 2003 and 2005 in Jefferson, Kitsap, and Mason counties to see when and where they were issued, how much impervious surface is currently tied to each permit, and if any spacial patterns present themselves.

Result:

Cleaned spreadsheet data and converted to GIS format. Grouped data according to the metrics to be calculated, and used spatial statistics to find patterns in the data. Client received maps of basin totals and median impervious surface expansion to accompany a project summary.
